Serving the Lord in the Andes Mission

“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” Psalm 18:2

Dear and unforgettable Brothers in Christ:

We dearly greet you, hoping that our Lord is filling you all with His generous blessings. Thank you for your valuable help and support to us both financially and spiritually to do our job here in Arica, Chile.

We thank our Lord who permitted and provided for the trip of Janeth and our son, Jonathan, to the south of Chile this summer to attend the wedding of our nephew, Elias Jara to Barbara Farias, and also to take the opportunity to visit Janeth’s mother who is already seventy-five and is unfortunately suffering from very painful arthritis and osteoporosis. Janeth was very happy to be able to accompany her mother to the hospital to have some tests done to see if surgery was possible. It was also a nice time for our son, as he could meet his uncles and aunts, cousins and grandparents, whom he had last seen when he was five years old (now he is fourteen). They also visited two churches in Chillán: the church of Filadelfia, and in Coihueco.

Thank our Lord, because we were again able to have the Summer Biblical School at our church from February 26th to March 2nd (see the pictures on the back). Working with children is always very rewarding. Around twenty-five attended, and the topic was “Heaven, a Place of Happiness”. It was a little hard at the beginning because some of the teachers were busy or sick, but thanks to God, we counted on the great assistance of our sister Javiera Salinas and our daughter Ruth Meylí who helped us with the little children’s group. God wonderfully provided for us, and nine children received Jesus as their Saviour, which is the greatest joy when working for our Lord, as His will is that none of them could be lost.

Dear brethren, we would like to ask for your prayers concerning the living situation here in Arica. There is a shortage of houses to rent, mainly due to mining activity in the area which has brought a lot of new people to live in Arica. It is rather a difficult situation for us, since rent prices continue rising. We ask you to pray with us for His will on this matter.

We thank our Lord for our children Ruth, Melissa and Jonathan, as they are starting classes in March: Ruth is in 11th grade, Jonathan in 9th, and Melissa in 7th grade. They are always willing to help in our Lord’s work.

May our Lord bless and strengthen you every day.

Our petitions:

Pray for the children who attended the Summer Biblical School, especially the new ones.
Pray for our children’s new school year.
Pray for our church groups: women and teens.

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Psalm 37:5
