God’s Servant in Texas

May, 2025

“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lam. 3:22-23

Dear friends, family, and brethren,

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Well, it is time to let you know how things are going here in Texas. May I first of all thank each one for your Christmas cards and letters as I enjoyed hearing of your news and God’s blessings. How God was with you and met your needs is a great encouragement. What a wonderful Savior we have.

As I remember, our cold, wet, and rainy weather started in December.  We broke records in low temperatures and the number of days it stayed with us.  By January we had a bit of snow, but not enough for the kids to play in.  It would begin snowing around sunset, and stopped by midnight.  Then by morning it was nearly all gone.  Sure, the boys were disappointed there was no snow to play in – but I liked it!  The cold temperatures and miserable weather continued into February. But, enough about the weather.

It was about that time, late February, that I developed shingles on my left side. They began in the back going around to the front. I didn’t realize a person could get them twice, as I had them once before while living in Bethlehem. The doctor assured me one could get them a second time, and gave some medication. But, as some of you may know, it takes time to get over them, four to six weeks.  Then, in April, I began having pain in my left hip-butt area. I went to the doctor again and he thought it was sciatic nerve pain. It too is very painful. I have not been able to sleep comfortably.  After two trips to the doctor for pain medication, and help of home remedy, I am doing better, although I am still not sleeping that well at night. I hope and pray it will soon be gone, I ask for your prayers also.

My, how fast the days and months are going. April is gone and there is one month of school left. The two older boys continue to ride the school bus each day, back and forth.  Isaac is doing well, keeping his grades up and enjoying his band and music classes.  Gordon still struggles with his grades and his homework. But thanks to your prayers, he is doing a bit better. Jesse is now riding his bike back and forth to school and enjoys it. He began when the van quit again in January.

As I close, my next big event is a family re-union in June. Pray it will be a blessing to all.

                                                                                                            Sincerely, in Christ,

                                                                                                            Joan Davenport
