Partners With The Rickers In Guatemala

September, 2025

Dear Brethren in Christ and Prayer Warriors,

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15. This Great Commission of the gospel of Jesus Christ is still in effect for the believers today, and must be carried out until Jesus comes back.  The Lord gives us, and all believers, the courage, joy and strength to work at it for His glory.

OUR CHURCH ACTIVITIES

  1. We celebrated the Father’s Day Program at Montserrat Church Sunday, June 15th.  The morning message reached the fathers and children.  In the Sunday School time, testimonies were given by children and adults about their fathers and how that helped most to develop their character and other remarkable things of their fathers.
  2. Pray for the Adult Sunday School at Montserrat Church that has finished the class on how to be a better witness to those who do not know Christ as Savior and Lord.  Each class member received four small booklets to evangelize with.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will help them to evangelize through the working of the Lord’s grace and mercy.
  3. Praise the Lord that tens of thousands of the free tracts and booklets, which came by ship through a missionary contact, have been distributed.  They were given out by our CIEF churches and other Gospel preaching churches.
  4. For many years, Chick Publication tracts came through a distributor in Guatemala.  They stopped handling these tracts when they were officially banned in Brazil, and unofficially, in Guatemala. This is a prohibition of freedom of speech. We were never able to find the official law to prohibit them in Guatemala, and the distributor would not give us any information.  An evangelistic brother in the US heard of these difficulties and brought 2,000 Chick tracts in suitcases, and gave them to the TBS of Guatemala.

CIEF GUATEMALA

The annual Bible Conference (pictured right) had the theme, “Are We All Sons of God?”  Pastor Natanael Yus preached the gospel and explained just how we become the sons and daughters of God, the Bible way of the free grace of God, and the gift of faith in Jesus and in his sacrifice for sin on the cross.  This year’s conference only had a morning preaching service, after which we had an excellent question-and-answer session. Many heard how to be truly saved.  The conference was further blessed with the good music and good words of life from the quartet “Shalom” from San Juan Sacatepéquez.  At 12:30 pm, a lunch was served.  Many went to their homes content with free literature and tracts. Some of the leaders went home with the new conservative Trinitarian Bible Society Bible, for free.

The CIEF Chimalenango church continues on stand-by regarding the property problem. Please pray with us that God will grant wisdom, so the problem with the easement will be resolved.

MY TWO GRANDSONS IN GUATEMALA

Grandsons Samuel and Joshua, are among my eight grand and great-grandchildren.  Samuel will be the first one to graduate from high school, on October 20th; it’s from a homeschool registered with the Government of Guatemala.  Samuel will take a special exam, by the Ministry of Education here in Guatemala, to see how well this homeschool is doing.  He wants to become a commercial pilot and go into missionary aviation.

HAL’S HEALTH

Praise the Lord that my heart arrhythmia terminated, and after thirty days of rest and natural medication (without common heart meds), I feel better and I’m attending all the church services. I am even back at the office six days a week.  On September 15th, we will travel to the US again for my doctor’s appointments that I have at the Veterans Hospital in Florida, and return to Guatemala on October 8th.

GRACE AND FAITH PRESBYTERY OF GUATEMALA

Our local Presbytery had a scheduled meeting at our Montserrat church for Saturday, August 9th, but the meeting was postponed because the moderators wife went home to be with the Lord on July 31st.  Pray for Pastor Barillas, and all the family, that God will grant them consolation.

THE RESPONSE FOR HELP AT THE TBS OF GUATEMALA

We give thanks to the Lord for the response we received from some of you, to help with the expenses of the TBS Bookstore of Guatemala. The monthly need still exists if others feel led to help. For those who have already helped, we are so appreciative, and will be sending you a note of thanks, privately. We are incorporating the Bible Society for its continued operation in the future. This incorporation requires extra legal fees from the lawyers. The bookstore carries the first and second edition of the new conservative Spanish Bible (first published in 2023 by the TBS) and other conservative Bibles that use the received text.  Free literature, books, and tracts were given out at the Annual CIEF Guatemala Bible Conference.

Brethren, we are grateful to the Lord for partners like you, which help us in fulfilling the Great Commission and in defending the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ here in Guatemala. May our God richly bless you all for your sacrifices for the Kingdom of Heaven.

Yours, for the Proclamation of the Gospel of Christ,
The Rickers (Hal, Stephen, Juanita, Samuel and Joshua)
