Serving the Lord in the Andes Mission

“Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all people.” Psalm 96:3

Dear friends, brothers and sisters in Christ,

We warmly greet you in the Lord, trusting you are well and rejoicing in the blessings of our good Heavenly Father. We want to sincerely thank you for your prayers and financial support. May the Lord continue to bless each one of you.

Youth Camp at Manantial Church
Our God is to be thanked for the good development of the camp held from July 16th – 19th, during our winter break. Thanks to the Lord, seven young people from our church were able to attend. It was a great blessing for them as they participated in various activities, both sports and Bible studies, giving them the opportunity to fellowship with other believers and form new friendships. Also, Jonathan had the opportunity, once again, to conduct a Bible study for the young people at the camp and to fellowship with them.

We are also happy to share with you that, for the second time, the parsonage of our Berea Church was used to house a group of young people from southern Chile, who participated in the camp. These young people were a great blessing, as some were able to help in different areas of our own church ministry, such as directing Sunday School and performing music. It is always such a blessing to worship and praise the Lord together with other brothers and sisters in Christ. We also had the privilege of meeting Elder Keith McCoy, who came from the US to take part in the camp. He was able to visit our church and spoke to the combined class for both adults and young people.

God’s Help for the Ministry
Recently, we had no means of transportation for about four weeks, since our vehicle had to be in the shop for repairs. Once again, God heard our prayers and saw distress, and we finally have it back! Transportation is very important for our ministry, since so many children and church members (especially the elderly) rely on us. It is also a great help during events like camp and conferences, as it allows us to transport brethren to and from the airport. We give thanks to God for allowing us to have the vehicle back.

Trip to “El Sembrador” Church
On Sunday, July 27, we traveled to Iquique to serve in the Lord’s work at the “El Sembrador” Church. There was a reception ceremony for two new members (Sister Elena Aguilera and Brother Jefferson Portilla), and we celebrated the Lord’s Supper. It is always a joy for Jonathan to be able to help these brethren in God’s ministry.

Women’s Society
In August, the Women’s Society planned two evangelistic activities, hosted in the homes of sisters from our church (Rebeca Reinaldo and Roxana Pozo). We thank the Lord as many members were able to attend both gatherings, and most importantly, guests also came who heard the precious gospel of the Good News of salvation. For as long as we are in this world, our duty is to sow the seed, so that God may work in each person’s heart.

Evangelism Around the Church
For many years we have prayed for our neighbors around the church property to come to the Lord’s house. We rejoice to share that two families, who have lived across from the church for years, have begun attending; they are the Gonzales Peña family and the Escolar Sanhueza family. They are now faithfully attending Sunday School with their young children. In addition, Mrs. Margarita Arquero and her son, Benjamín Valenzuela, who also live near the church, have started coming as well. We ask that you pray for their spiritual growth. Some of them have already accepted Christ as their Savior, but not all. Please pray that the faith of these new believers may flourish day by day, and that those who have not yet accepted the Lord may one day do so.

Prayer Requests

  1. Pray for “El Sembrador” Church in Iquique. They will have an important meeting on September 27th. We will travel there for this meeting. Pray that the decisions made will be for the good of the ministry.
  2. Please pray for Jonathan’s upcoming trip to Chillán to attend the National Presbytery (October 10–11), as he will be representing the Northern Zone of Chile.
  3. Remember also to pray for the December 21st Christmas program.
  4. Please pray for Sister Balvina Montoya and her husband, César Calizaya. Brother César suffered a stroke and is under treatment. In visiting them, we rejoice to tell you that God has been hearing our prayers. Despite the seriousness of his condition, his recovery has been quick. We know that nothing is impossible for God when we pray. Please also pray earnestly for Brother César’s heart, since he has not yet accepted the Lord as his Savior. Pray that he may understand the message of salvation and receive Christ into his heart.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,it is always a joy to communicate with you and share about the work of God in this part of the Southern Hemisphere. May God bless your lives, and may His grace be abundant upon your families.

“Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men.”  Psalm 107:15

In Christ,
