Serving the Lord in East Afric

December, 2025

“Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.” Philippians 4:14

Dear Co-laborers in Christ, greetings, in the blessed name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We wish to share some of God’s blessing with you in this letter, and to encourage you to continue in your prayer support.

A. Thanksgiving for Our Furlough (Mid-June to August)

We thank the Lord for granting us a 2½-month furlough from mid-June to the end of August. It was a much-needed season of rest and refreshing grace. In Korea, we enjoyed precious time with our parents and our home church. In the US, we traveled to help our second child, Hajin, begin his college studies. It was also a meaningful visit, as we were able to meet several Bible-Presbyterian pastors and reconnect with longtime friends—one of whom we had not seen for 26 years. We are grateful for the sweet fellowship the Lord allowed during this time.

We also visited churches that have faithfully supported BCEA for many years. Sharing how God is working in Kenya and enjoying renewed fellowship with these churches was a great encouragement.

Most of all, this furlough was our first true rest since 2016. Having time to slow down, pray, and reflect brought both spiritual and physical renewal. We returned to Kenya refreshed and strengthened, ready to continue the ministry with renewed motivation.

B. Return to Kenya & Ongoing Ministry

Since returning on September 2, the ministry resumed at a full pace. Eben has been teaching five subjects this term—Revelation, Tabernacle, Christology, Eschatology, and Homiletic Practice. In addition, every other Lord’s Day, he has been traveling to rural areas to visit BCEA graduates, to  encourage and support their ministries on the ground.

We especially thank God for the completion of the Nooriro Church on November 23. The story of how this church began is truly remarkable. The original Lenkijape Glory Church, established in the early 1990s by Rev. Kim, required many elderly members to walk 5–6 miles every Lord’s Day. As they grew older, attending church became increasingly difficult. Some members then donated land closer to their homes, and the congregation began gathering under a tree for nearly a year. The Lord moved the hearts of Rev. Kim and several friends, and construction began in May. Now, the believers are worshiping in a beautiful sanctuary—a clear testimony to God’s faithfulness and a wonderful blessing to the community.

On December 2, Eben officiated the wedding of Joseph and Lita, two young believers who grew up in the Maasai mission church. Having watched them grow in the Lord since childhood, the occasion was especially touching and meaningful to us.

Beginning this December, we will also start another church construction project in Kitui, where one of our graduates is faithfully pastoring. The church was established ten years ago, but due to extreme financial hardship in this remote area, the congregation has been worshiping in a structure covered only with rusted and nearly unusable iron sheets.

Through the generosity of a partnering organization in Korea, we are now able to begin building a proper sanctuary. We thank the Lord for moving the hearts of His people. Please pray for God’s guidance, provision, and protection as the work begins. (see pictures on back)

C. MINISTRY UPDATES & PRAYER REQUESTS

1. Bible College of East Africa (BCEA-Nairobi)

                  • On 22 November, BCEA held its graduation service, and 16 students completed their studies. Please pray that each graduate will faithfully preach the Gospel wherever the Lord leads them.

                  • Pray earnestly for new students. Enrollment across Kenya continues to decline, and pursuing full-time theological training has become increasingly difficult. Pray that the Lord will send many new students next academic year. The harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few.

                  • Please pray that our students and faculty will be spiritually and physically renewed during the holiday break.

• The college will reopen on 12 January. Pray for all preparations and for the smooth progress of the academic year.

2. BCEA Campus Church

Please uphold the following ministries in prayer:

                               • Youth Conference (Dec 8–12): Over 400 young people are expected. Eben will preach the opening message and lead several special sessions.

                               • December 25 – Christmas Communion Service

December 27 – Combined Fellowship at the Campus

                               January 1 – New Year’s Service

January 4 – Dedication Service

Also, pray that Sunday School will continue to run smoothly throughout the school holidays.

3. Additional Ministry Requests

                               • Pray for the ongoing and upcoming church construction projects, including the new work in Kitui.

                               • Please pray for the Maasai region, where the drought is extremely severe.

                               • Pray for Rev. Kim and his team in Rwanda as they prepare to officially open the Rwanda BCEA campus next year.

                               • Pray for Tanzania, where more large demonstrations are expected. Please pray for protection for our graduates and churches in the region.

4. Prayer for the Yoon Family

                               • Pray for the Lord’s continual provision and protection upon our family.

• Pray for our children:

Haeun – completing her final term in nursing; pray for the Lord’s guidance for her next steps.

Hajin – beginning college; pray for wisdom and adjustment. He is also required to serve 18 months in the Korean military next year.

Hahyun – now in 10th grade, facing many decisions; pray for the Lord’s leading.

Hael – the youngest, growing in faith and character.

                               • Pray for God’s strength and wisdom for Eben and Mijung, especially as Eben prepares to teach Systematic Theology I & IV, the Book of Joshua, and Homiletics next term.

In closing, we thank you always for your love, prayers, and faithful support. As Paul wrote in Phil. 4:14, your participation in missions is truly sharing in our affliction and standing with us in the labor of Christ. We are deeply encouraged knowing that we are upheld by co-labourers out there. We rejoice in all that the Lord has done thus far, and we look forward with expectation to what He will continue to do—for His glory and for the expansion of His kingdom. We humbly ask that you continue to pray for us as we await the great works He will yet accomplish on this earth.

In Christ, Eben,
Mijung, Haeun, Hajin, Hahyun, & Hael
