On June 9, 2023 twelve people were attacked and killed by an Isis-affiliated Muslim extremist group called the “Allied Defensive Forces” in the predominantly Christian Democratic Republic of the Congo. Eight men, two women and two children were attacked and decapitated with hatchets and machetes.
