Serving the Lord in Guatemala

November, 2025

Dear Prayer and Ministry Partners,

We greet you with gratitude for your love and prayers. “I thank my God upon remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3)

There are only two months left in 2025, and this prayer letter will be our last for the year. The Christian Middle School project, one of the most anticipated and hoped-for projects of the past two or three years, remains at a standstill. However, as Proverbs 16:33 reminds us, while this project may seem like our decision, God is the one who leads us into this vision. We trust in Him as He guides us through this process, and we ask you to pray that His will be accomplished.

“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)

English Bible Reading Class

The 2025 school year concluded in October for private schools, and mid-November for public schools. The classes at Tres de Junio and INEB Maria Raimunde Public Middle School differ significantly due to the differences in students’ academic abilities and classroom environments. Classes begin with one Bible verse in Spanish or English. Tres de Junio students start with Spanish Bible verses and then practice simple vocabulary in English. The disorderly environment makes it difficult for us and the students, to concentrate and especially challenges us to conduct classes smoothly. However, we are grateful for the opportunity to share the Word of God with them. Maria Raimunde students attend class at noon, an hour before school starts. While Tres de Junio students’ classes are part of their regular English classes, Maria Raimunde’s classes are voluntary, resulting in a highly engaged class. While the time spent sharing Scripture is brief, we pray that the Bible verses studied will be experienced as the living Word of God in each student’s life, while also serving as a time for English study. The teachers and students at Allan Juyu Technical School also enjoyed English classes, thanks to the cooperation of the school principal. Please pray that the seeds of the Word sown in each class will bear fruit according to God’s time.

We want to share some prayer items of the students in Saturday English Bible classes. Jaqueline graduated with honors this October and will enter the university. She is applying to a university in the north and will not be able to attend classes next year. We are connecting her with a church in the area where her university intended to help her grow in faith. Please pray for her to adapt well. Darlyn took the entrance exam for a weekend program at a university in Guatemala City. She hopes to major in English Literature. Please pray for her. Chumil, who took a leave of absence due to family circumstances, plans to re-enroll next year. Please pray for an environment where she can focus on her studies. Darlyn and Chumil are Roman Catholics. We seek to share the Gospel through consistent Bible reading class. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will help them to know the Lord as their Savior.

Christian Middle School Establishment Project

Visiting various schools in Patzicia to share the Word through English classes provides opportunities to meet many students and, like a farmer sowing seeds in a vast field, creates a hopeful time of reaping a bountiful harvest. However, the opportunity to see the sown seeds sprout and have the time to nurture them is not available because we simply do not have enough time with these students. The desire to be with them and help the seed of the Word grow into sprouts, and bear fruit in their hearts, has led us to have the vision of establishing a Christian school in Patzicia. We have been searching for a location for the school since 2024, but nothing has come to fruition. However, since it is the Lord who has given us this vision, we entrust everything to Him and earnestly pray that He will accomplish what we seek. Please pray for this project, which relies solely on God.

Family News

Please pray for the health and safety of our family. Our son, Joshua, is diligently working at one of the Korean companies here in Guatemala. We thank the Lord for giving us the time to be together with him and for giving him a good job.

Debra underwent iris laser surgery in Guatemala at the end of July due to the risk of closed-angle glaucoma. We are grateful that the entire procedure was successful. Keep praying for her.

Also, would you pray for safety from the damage and dangers caused by the rain that has been falling for several months? Pray especially when we are on the road.

Brethren, we face many situations in life that are beyond our control, and unavoidable. While the fears we face are great, the protection of the Lord’s shield placed before us transcends those fears.

We pray, our beloved prayer/ministry partners, that the Lord’s shield will be with you always.

In His endless love,
Mr. and Mrs. Il Kang (Caleb)
