Presenting Christ to Cambodia

Dear Mission and Prayer Co-Workers,

Greetings in Jesus’ name. It is our constant prayer that all of us are under the Lord’s care and intervention wherever we are.

The completion of the building of Glory Bible Presbyterian Church in New Phnom Penh is expected by the end of March, and we are planning for the Consecration Service of the chapel in April. How amazing God’s grace is that we could dedicate another church in this land of Cambodia! Our Lord has been leading us through the past 11 years every step of the way and now we are about to enter the new church that He had already prepared for us. We give thanks and praise His name for the wonderful things He has done for us. We have received prayers as well as offerings dedicated for building the church not just from overseas, but locally as well from church members who are not as financially well-off.

We pray that more people will come before the Lord and turn into wise and beautiful brides of the Lord. We seek for the Lord’s guidance to carry out more and greater things through us. Please pray for us that we can walk in full faith and obedience.

Today we are praising the Lord that He has sent us two faithful and sincere brothers for the Gospel Bible Presbyterian Church and Glory Bible Presbyterian Church. Their names are Saret and Sak. They moved to Phnom Penh from the Kampong Cham Province, to study in the University. They work during the night for living expenses, and despite all the difficult circumstances, they keep the faith and come for worship every Lord’s Day. As there was no English teacher in the Gospel Bible Presbyterian Church, we asked them whether they could give lessons to the students of Gospel Bible Presbyterian Church in the afternoon, after their own classes at the university in the morning. They agreed, and have become role models to the remaining church members; how to serve others and look after the church’s need. We believe the Lord prepared and sent them to us in a time when we desperately needed faithful leaders on the ground. Please pray for them for continuous growth in their faith, the studies they are taking, and their every need of which we do not know. They are currently envisioning the pursuit of the theology studies, after graduating from the university. Pray that they will stand firm with that vision and finally grow into the evangelists of God.

With given monetary support and time, it is more important to invest in raising up faithful and true leaders than setting up churches. Although two churches have been built so far, we still do not have devoted co-workers or leaders locally. We patiently wait for the Lord’s answer to our prayer, that one day there will be loyal servants of the Lord out in this field.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” (Philippians 2:5-8)

Thank you for your concern and prayers for us.

In Christ,
Stephen and Lydia
