Dear Prayer Partners and Friends,
As we have recently celebrated Good Friday and Easter we realize how very blessed we are to have a risen Savior. We are also so very blessed to be called to serve Him! The Lord has given us so many opportunities for witness, even to one young lady who believes in reincarnation. Pray that she will remember the witness given to her and read the Gospel of John, which she said she had read before. May God speak to her heart as she said she would read it again. Also, the Good News Club is finished for this year and Pat already misses the children.
Plans are being finalized for the S.O.M.E. team to Kenya. We leave on May 22nd to do shopping for food, then cleaning the houses before the rest of the team arrives on June 2nd. Yes, they could clean things when they arrive, but last year we found 27 dead mice in the houses. So we would rather have their introduction to bush-living be in a clean house.
The rest of the team consists of: Bonnie Leithman, a teacher at Cross Lanes Christian School who went with us last year, and who will be leading the team; Becky Rodriguez from Santiago, Chile, who will also arrive on the 2nd; Becky Bjur, whose parents are missionaries in Chile, and whose dad, Jim Bjur, was on two teams about 28 years ago; Dylan Cuddington, whose mother was on a team 27 years ago, and served in Kenya for two years; and Morgan Dietz from Pennsylvania, whose great aunt has gone on several teams. We are also pleased to have Rev. Joe McKnight, pastor in Marcus Hook, PA, and an IBPFM Board member. He will be a great help to our pastors in Kenya. Please pray that each one, including us, will have our expenses raised to go—that is about $3,000 per person.
Please pray for safe travel to Kenya, in Kenya, and coming home. Pray also for the outreaches to the IPC Churches, the Bethel Bible and Technical schools, public schools with pencils, Gideon Bibles, and Vitamin A, a pastors’ conference and visits to two orphanages. There is another famine in the area there, and we are praying that the Lord would supply some funds to buy beans and corn for the people. If you would like to help with this, send funds to the Board marked Johnson Famine Account. There is a lot that can be done for the Lord, so pray for good health and strength needed for each outreach.
We will go back into Nairobi for a two-day “slow down” and visit a game park before leaving Nairobi on June 22 (arriving home June 23rd). With all that being said, pray for souls to be reached for Christ, Christians to be strengthened, and the hearts of the team to be softened for missions.
Thank you each one for your faithful support and prayers for us, support for the team outreach, and prayers for each of the team members! May God richly bless you for sharing in the S.O.M.E. Team.
“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…” Ephesians 3:20. We are trusting for His abundance to supply the Team and you, as you pray and give.
