Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Praise the Lord who guides us to live with unwavering peace as we adjust to the changes in our lives due to Covid-19. Like the pitiful situation in Korea because of recent floods, here in Guatemala, heavy rain has been causing many problems and loss for so many. We spent many more hours on the road due to landslides. Pray for those who are in need, and that we would always be equipped with a strong faith and not to be frustrated in whatever situations may arise.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10)
Zion Middle School
Over the past three years, classes have continued online due to the pandemic. There were times when we were allowed to have face-to-face classes twice a week for each grade. However, in mid-July the classes were switched back to online only. We are praying that the coronavirus does not get worse here so we can have face-to-face studies. Saturday’s English class for graduates was face-to-face after two weeks of online classes. Nine students diligently completed the 10-week course by July and are preparing for Session 3 in September. Among them are Norma (preparing for the nursing diploma exam), and Chumil and Cindy (preparing for the college entrance exam). Please pray for God’s guidance and wisdom in every step of their preparation.
In August we conducted a computer class with six students. The class is centered on practical content necessary for college exams and job applications. In Patzicia, where few students are interested in academics or self-development, the enthusiasm for English and computer class students is truly precious. Would you pray for these students to grow in faith as we share the Word of God and encourage them with hope in God.
Visitation
Around the world many are still going through hard times due to the pandemic and poor economies. Among them are our young people, who are having difficulty in finding a job. Normally they can find employment through an internship period after graduation. Yet they were unable to engage in internships during Covid-19. So now they stay home to help with farming or housework, and some have jobs at less than a quarter of the minimum wage. Caleb visits these students at home to pray with them and he tries to find employment for them with at least minimum wage. Please pray for Caleb to be used as a channel to bless these young people.
Eden was a young Roman Catholic. Caleb has been sharing the Word of God with him for some time. Recently Caleb helped him to get a new job. On his days off, they have a fellowship time in the Lord. Caleb is very grateful to God for this fine young man and prays for him to know the Lord even more. Would you pray for more channels to connect with these young people in difficult circumstances, to get a proper job they need and to know Christ as Savior?
Family News
Just like many young people are struggling to find a job, our son Joshua is also praying for a job. Please pray with him to find a work and settle in well. He will be moving to a new apartment and applying for a long-term-visa in September. Pray that everything goes smoothly and safely. We are always grateful for God’s protection and guidance for him.
Whenever we are faced with a difficult and unfamiliar situation, we try to be more sensitive to God’s presence and peace in us, rather than panic or be anxious. The older we get the more sensitive we must be to know God’s presence in our lives; the Father knows all about us. Dear prayer co-workers, we bless you and pray for you to feel God’s presence stronger each day.
