“The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.”
Psalm 29:11
Dear brethren and friends in Christ,
We cordially greet you in the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are doing well, by the grace of the Lord, although we have gone through some difficulties this month. Yet we have faith because everything is in God’s hands, and every trial helps us to be strengthened in our faith.
Women’s Society
Our Lord is to be thanked for the beautiful meeting of our Women’s Society in the month of May. This meeting was special as they invited the mothers of the children who faithfully attend Sunday School. Each mother who attended heard the message of salvation, and thank God one of them, Mrs. Mariana Graneros, accepted Jesus as her Savior. It was a great joy for us to have her now as a sister-in-faith in Christ, since for many years she was a drug addict and homeless. Therefore, to see how God is changing her heart and life, gives us great joy and shows us His power. In addition, the Women’s Society made souvenirs for the sisters who will come here from all over Chile to the MUPREF Congress from November 8 to 10 of this year.
Sunday School’s Children
Praise God for the many years we have had a very spacious vehicle, which has allowed us to transport children and adults for our services; these are ones who have no means of transportation. It has become an essential element of service in the ministry of the Lord here. Unfortunately, about three weeks ago our car was damaged and we had to leave it in the mechanic’s shop for a week, making it impossible to go to pick up the children. Well, it was a great surprise for us to see that that most of these children decided to walk to church to attend Sunday School. Thanks to the Lord, our vehicle was repaired and we can continue to use it for God’s service.
Youth Camp at Manantial Church
The youth camp that took place in the Manantial Church, led by Pastor Bjur and his wife Melody, from July 16 to 20, was a real blessing. Two young people from our church, Gonzalo and Francisco Pantoja, participated in this camp. They are always very excited to join in with other young people and to learn more about our God. We hope that next year more young people from our church can participate as well; many times non-Christian parents do not give permission to attend since they have other plans for them during their winter school vacations.
In addition, we had the blessing of two young men, brothers Josias Durand and his friend Jose Valenzuela. Josias brought us the blessing of the Word of God. It was admirable to see a young man so full of God’s wisdom. Both young men participated at the Youth Camp. It was a joy to share with them and get to know them better. We are also happy that five young people from the El Sembrador church in Iquique (Josué and Ámbar Matamala, Darly and Daphne Alcayaga, and Jefferson) were able to join in the camp.
Jonathan’s Health
Dear brothers and sisters, please pray for Jonathan’s health, as he has a problem with his left foot. A few weeks ago a small spot appeared on his foot which he did not notice until it developed into a larger spot. He went to the doctor, and an immediate biopsy was recommended. Thank God that the results of the biopsy showed that it was not cancer. He asks us to pray for his speedy recovery. This situation showed God’s great grace and mercy. You see, in the beginning the doctor warned Jonathan that he should be prepared for the worst possible outcome; but God proved to be greater!
Prayer Requests
1. Pray for the speedy recovery of Jonathan’s foot.
2. Pray for the health of Janeth.
3. Pray for the special Children’s Day program to be held on Sunday, August 18.
4. Pray for the health and salvation of Don Americo and his family.
5. Pray for the speedy recovery of sister Karina Espinoza, who had an appendix surgery.
Finally brethren, we thank you all, very much, for helping us with the Lord’s field of service, through your prayers and financial giving.
In Christ,
Rev. Jonathan, Janeth, Ruth Meylí, and Melissa Jara
