Dear Partners in Prayer,
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Although there are diverse people in the world, according to John 3:16, they are really divided into only two categories: those who perish (the lost) and those who have obtained eternal life (the saved). As you may know, the life of those who are lost does not have the salvation of Jesus, while the life that has experienced Jesus’ salvation, is the life that has obtained eternal life.
What would we do if we lost something precious to us? It is a situation I do not even want to imagine, but what would we do if we lost our beloved child? Would our own life cease to exist, and finding the child become my sole mission? Wouldn’t we go searching until we found the child?
Through the Gospel delivered to us, who were lost, we are now living the life of one who embraces eternal life, walking with the Lord. We believe that our sole mission is to earnestly reach out with the Gospel to those who are lost and wandering in a life of destruction.
1. Chimaltenango El-Tejar English Bible Study
In cooperation with the Municipal Education Center of the El-Tejar City Hall, an English Bible study class was offered to public middle school students last February; 28 students are now enrolled. The students included young adults as well as middle schoolers. We teach with a focus on basic English tailored to the students’ goals and practice memorizing Bible verses together. To date, we have shared seven Bible verses. We ask for your prayers that the living Word of God will spread to the hearts of those who listen to know the Truth.
2. Patzicia El-Mesias Middle School
El-Mesias Middle School conducts Bible study based on textbooks tailored to each grade level. Debra teaches English and shares the Word, focusing on the memorization of Bible verses related to each topic. Although it is a Christian school, there are many Roman Catholic students, so it is very important for them to learn about Jesus salvation through God’s Word. Please pray that the students may know the Truth as they memorize the Scriptures.
3. Maria Munde Middle and San Lorenzo Elementary Schools
Maria Munde Middle School is a public school that starts in the afternoon. In the first class of the 3rd grade, Caleb teaches basic English and gives help to memorize Bible verses. We pray that the guidance of the Holy Spirit will be revealed even through the simple Bible verses they learn.
Caleb visited San Lorenzo Elementary School and shared the Word about living a life centered on the Lord and had a time to learn fun games and Christian hymns. Although the reality is that most students are unable to advance to middle school, please pray for an environment where opportunities for learning can be provided.
4. Christian School Project
While conducting English Bible programs at various schools, we are experiencing varied educational systems. In Patzicia, Roman Catholicism and Mormonism are expanding their influence through various educational programs. Although the founder of El Mesias Middle School has a strong determination to pursue holistic Christian education in the face of this phenomenon, he has been unable to firmly establish the foundation of Christian education due to the varied religious backgrounds of the students. We encourage him to develop the school into a true Christian school, dedicated to spreading the Word of God and the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ; he asks us to pray for that.
Just as Elijah, who prayed patiently, saw a small, palm-sized cloud appear in a cloudless sky and bowed down in prayer with conviction of faith (1 Kings 18:41-46), we pray that only the Lord’s will be done, even if the direction of the Christian School project is different from ours.
5. Family News
On March 20th, our son Joshua was involved in an accident with a motorcycle on his way home from work. Due to the speeding motorcycle, his vehicle was severely damaged in front and is still being repaired at the factory. However, by God’s grace, neither Josh nor the motorcycle driver were seriously injured. Although it was not a minor accident, judging by the damage to the vehicle, we praise and give thanks to God, who “protected him like the apple of His eye.” We also give thanks to you all who have always prayed for us, and we pray that the same blessing fills every moment of your life: “He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye” (Deuteronomy 32:10).
By His Grace,
Mr. and Mrs. Il Kang (Caleb)
