Dear Co- laborers in Christ,
I am thankful for your prayers and concerns in Christ. I am presently doing well in the Lord and continue taking care of my mother here in Korea. I want to share with you the changes I have experienced for the last three months as I seek your prayer support.
Last year, I had to discuss with my senior missionary and the mission board, how I could help my mother in Korea and yet continue the ministry of a missionary in Kenya. We came to an idea that I would help my mother for eight months in Korea and return to Kenya for serving in BCEA for the rest of a year. I would do so until my situation would improve. While I will be gone to Kenya, my sister (who lives in the US with her family) would come to help my mother. Surely, it will not be an easy task for her to take care of my mother and her own family at the same time.
Having come to that decision, I had to explain this change to those who have served together with me back in Kenya: the Junior Youth, the students, co- workers and kindergarten teachers of BCEA. I made a short visit to Kenya for about 10 days in October. I spent those days visiting my old friends and having fellowship with them. The most impressing visit was to the kindergarten graduation in Rongai and their church inauguration service. The Rongai station had been there since about the year of 2010. It had a very humble beginning and has gone through many challenges. Though there were many years of struggling, it was finally a time to celebrate at the church opening. I was so encouraged to witness how the Lord has led His ministry.
Then, last November, back in Korea, we had to move out from the old village home. It was the hometown of my father, grandparents and ancestors. It was a part of the Busan city project where all the villagers had to leave the place. Moving out was quite a task, but taking out the belongings of my parents and others of the family and discarding them was even harder. “What remains behind after one’s life?” kept coming into my mind. We cannot take a single day for granted; each one is a gift from the Lord.
As soon as we moved to a new place, my mother was discharged from the hospital. She was so tired of being there. She is still not yet able to move around and speak, so she will go for her rehabilitation therapy in the hospital. Surely, my mother can rest better at home, but I find myself very occupied with numerous house chores and helping her with many other things. Also, I am new to this area so that I have to adjust myself. I mean, it’s not easy at all.
Well, I had never expected all these things to happen, and I don’t know what is next. Yet, I come to the Lord and His words come to me, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14. Please pray with me that all I do will be for His glory with love for the people around.
I am, once again, thankful for your love in Christ. May He keep you with His heavenly peace in the year 2026.
In Christ,
Bai, Eun Young
