Dear Fellow Workers in Missions,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
By the grace of God, and through your faithful prayers, we are safely continuing our ministry here in Tanzania. As many of you know, Tanzania faced significant challenges at the end of last October. We were particularly concerned about the protests scheduled for Tanzania’s Independence Day in December. We asked for your urgent prayers, and we witnessed what we believe to be a miracle as Independence Day passed in perfect peace without any incidents. We do not believe this was a coincidence, but a direct result of God’s grace and your intercession. Please continue to pray that our mission in Tanzania may persevere and flourish.
1. Bible College of East Africa Tanzania (BCEA/TZ)
BCEA/TZ began its new term on January 5th. We welcomed seven new students this semester. While two returning students withdrew and one had to recently leave due to family issues, we currently have 36 dedicated students immersed in their studies.
For years, our faculty has strived to cultivate a culture of sincerity, honesty, and academic integrity toward the Word of God. We are finally seeing the fruits of these efforts as a genuine atmosphere of study has taken root. Although the local educational background makes our intensive curriculum challenging for many, the students’ growing reverence for the gravity of God’s Word is fueling their passion for learning.
Graduates: Of the four students who completed their studies last semester, two have transferred to our Nairobi campus for further studies, and two are now faithfully serving alongside Korean missionaries. Please pray that our graduates will remain faithful servants of the Lord, rooted in Word and prayer.
2. Chemchem Kindergarten
Chemchem Kindergarten also opened for the spring term on January 13th with 62 children and three teachers. Since many children arrive without having had breakfast, we continue to provide nutritious daily lunches. We also hold a designated “Vitamin Day” to provide supplements, along with bi-annual deworming treatments for all students and staff.
Playground Renovation: We are currently renovating the playground. The facility has become outdated and poses safety risks as student numbers have grown. We are leveling the front yard and installing new equipment to create a safer environment.
Children’s Library & After-School Program: Lastly, we are converting a former storage room into a Children’s Library and intend to use this space for evangelism and after-school tutoring for village children. This program will be led by gifted and faithful seminary students who will prioritize Bible study and worship before academic subjects.
3. Glory Bible Presbyterian Church Tanzania
At Glory Bible Presbyterian Church Tanzania, Professor Chaewon Ra has been leading a rigorous Teacher-Training Program every Friday evening for three hours since last September. The program includes evaluating previous ministries, teaching demonstrations to check preparation, and lectures on core doctrines and methodologies to deepen the teachers’ understanding.
Thanks to this intensive training, our Sunday School is experiencing great revival. We are also prayerfully considering opening a Saturday Bible School to further impact the local community with the Gospel.
4. Prayer Requests
Financial Provision: For the necessary funds to continue providing free education at both the Bible College and the Chemchem Kindergarten.
Facility Projects: For the successful completion of the playground renovation, the library, and the after-school program.
Teacher Training: That our teachers would be well-equipped through training and bear much spiritual fruit.
Saturday Bible School: For God’s guidance and wisdom in launching this new outreach.
Faculty Wisdom: That God would grant wisdom and health to the lecturers so they may serve as powerful and faithful instruments of the Truth.
Thank you once again for your constant prayers and support. We pray that we may continue to serve as faithful servants of God and His Word.
In Christ’s service,
Rev. Dr. SeungKyu Park and Dr. ChaeWon Ra
