Dear Prayer Partners and Friends,
To begin with, we thank each one of you for your prayers on our behalf, and for the various outreaches. Many are the praises to the Lord, such as the Bible Club on Monday, with the four children, that continues. Yes, it’s amazing what young minds can remember. However, it is sad what wrong thing the world is teaching them.
Thank you for your continued prayers for the ministry in Kenya. Word came a couple of weeks ago that a church has started up again. It begins years ago, under a tent, but later disbanded. Well, the Kanzaru church now has a building, which started with donations and work from the local pastors. We received a call asking if we wanted to help with iron sheets for the roof. “Yes”, we said, and would add four sheets in memory of a friend who had passed away. By the next day, others had donated and there was enough to complete the roof. Now, they will begin making mud bricks for the walls, then cement to put the bricks together and plaster the walls.
So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work. Nehemiah 4:6
The pastors are making preparation to attend the July meeting of the ICCC in Nakuru. It will be a wonderful opportunity for them to learn more from God’s Word, and to be able to meet fellow Christians from all over the world. There are 21 pastors planning to attend from our group. Their registration has been paid and we are not paying for their accommodations. One pastor is making arrangements for their transportation so they can all travel together. Would you please pray with us that this will all be taken care of and that these pastors will truly grow in the Lord during this time?
Much work has been done in the team house in Isovya, as they had to replace the termite-eaten sink frames with cement and tile. Some of you might know, but this is a constant battle and difficult to keep up with. Here is a before and after picture of this particular project. There is also painting that needs to be done before visitors come to the property after this coming ICCC. Also, if you look closely in the right picture, the 240-volt electrical plugs need to be removed from above the sinks. These are just a few “little” things that need to be done, and we are not there to see they are taken care of.
Our dear ones, there is a big concern on our hearts, and that is the fact that the Bethel Bible and Technical Schools have NO students for over six months now. The Bible School started shortly after the Clinics of Care opened. Then, shortly after that, the Technical School began for girls to study the Bible and learn to sew. We are not sure just why this has happened. They still have teachers available, but NO students. The buildings are in good shape and ready to use again. Again, would you please pray that the Lord would move in the hearts of the young people in those churches to study the Word of God, that they might be better equipped as pastors and Sunday school teachers, in their service to the Lord?
In His Service,
Gary and Pat Johnson
