April 2026
Dear Co-Laborers in the Lord,
Greetings from East Africa, in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We pray and trust that you are well in the Lord. We hope to share some things that our risen Lord has done, according to His will and in His perfect time.
- Classes at International Covenant College have finally begun.
We praise God for the Inaugural Thanksgiving Service (pictured above) that was held on January 11. We gathered together to give thanks to the Lord for the opening of International Covenant College. During the service, we prayed that the Lord will use the school for the progress of the gospel and for His glory. Following this celebration, there were some regulatory and administrative complications, but by the grace and help of God, they were resolved and classes began on March 2. The first cohort of students were admitted for Early Childhood Development and Education and Digital Media Technology.
As is the case with all beginnings, many things were clumsy and awkward, but God’s grace was abundant for us. Three professors from the United States came to give intensive lectures in Digital Media. It was a time when both the visiting lecturers and students gave thanks to God. Daily chapel was also a source of blessing for both staff and students. Seeing most students accepting daily chapel as a matter of course, we were deeply moved by the grace of God reaching the students through His Word.
We ask for your prayers for the establishment of the Faculty of Theology. Our original purpose for coming to Rwanda was to establish a Bible college, and because we believe that God has led us here, He will grant the opportunity to train pastors and to teach the Word in His time. Please continue to remember and pray with us for this.
- Bible College of East Africa (Kenya) completed its first trimester of the year.
God had graciously led 28 new men and women to join the College, and a total of 79 students completed the semester with diligence and prayer. Sixty years have passed since God established this school to train servants for His church, and we are moving forward, looking toward the seventieth year as the Lord wills. Please pray that God will use this ministry for His kingdom, glory, and the gospel, until the Lord’s return. - Rwanda seems to be enduring the painful times it faces every year around this time, with resolute strength.
Thirty-two years have passed since the genocide against the Tutsi that claimed a million lives, and the nation is remembering that pain, resolving that such a painful history must never be repeated, and seeking forgiveness and reconciliation. What is humanly impossible is possible through the Gospel. We hope that God’s people will show through their lives that the precious blood shed by the Lord can erase the scars of this painful history. I attended a local government commemoration, accepting the request to lead the opening prayer. I prayed that God would bestow special grace upon this nation and its people, so that the pain of the past may become the soil that brings forth the fruits of forgiveness and reconciliation in the future. We ask that you join us in prayer for this.
Brethren, we are only able to serve through the grace of your constant prayers. Although we are increasingly feeling the weight of time and age, we are grateful to God who enables us to endure and overcome. We pray that you will be strong and at peace in the Lord.
In the bond of Christ,
Kyung Soo (Mark) Kim and Hang Sook (Hannah) Rhee
