Matamala Colpi Mission

June, 2026

For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.  Acts 13:47

Beloved brethren, we have the responsibility to be the light of the world, to be faithful witnesses of the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Brothers and sisters, saved by the grace of God, we are called to be ambassadors of the message of salvation to the ends of the earth. The mandate is given directly by the Lord… Are you being an instrument in God’s hands for the salvation of His people? Are you communicating the message of the gospel? Are you being used by God for the salvation of souls?

We thank God for you, who constantly sustain us with your prayers and offerings. We need your support; we need your fervent prayers to continue the missionary ministry to the “ends of the earth.” This report summarizes the period between March and May 2026.

1. Start of the school year. We ask for your prayers for our children; they began their school year in March. Daniel Josías is in seventh grade and Joaquín is in sixth grade. Catalina is in kindergarten. As many of you know, they are homeschooled, and Elizabeth guides their learning. In addition, Daniel has begun piano lessons and Joaquín has begun violin lessons at the conservatory of the University of Magallanes. God is developing them so that they may worship Him better.

2. Easter Celebration. During Holy Week, we had many blessed and edifying activities. On Friday, we began with a congregational fast and concluded with a vigil. On Saturday, we had a special children’s club for Holy Week, where the children made crafts to bear witness to the resurrection of Christ.

On Sunday, we began very early with the Resurrection service at 7:00 a.m., and in the afternoon we went out to distribute small gifts in a plaza where the municipality was handing out “Easter chocolate eggs”. There, we were able to share the true message of Easter, and many children and their parents were able to hear it. We concluded with our special Easter service.

3. Trip to Puerto Montt. On April 26, Daniel had the opportunity and blessing to travel to Puerto Montt to participate in the ordination of brother Emilio Aedo Urrutia to the Elder. It was a very short trip, as he had to return to preach that afternoon, but he wanted to accompany Emilio, whom he had been preparing (on line) to take this important step in ministry. Daniel also had the responsibility of preaching at the ordination service. We ask that you pray for this new Elder, that God may guide him and provide him with the wisdom and dedication to carry out his ministry.

4. Celebrations. We give many thanks to God that Catalina was able to turn six-years-old on May 4th. We thank God for her growth and ask for your prayers that God may confirm the salvation of her soul. Emilia González also celebrated her birthday on May 1st, and we were able to celebrate with her and the children of the club.

Also, on May 10th, we were able to celebrate all the mothers of the congregation by sharing a delicious afternoon tea with them.

5. Visit from Pastor Máximo Mardones and his wife Iris Contreras. From May 22nd to June 1st, we enjoyed a visit from Pastor Máximo and his wife, Iris. It was a time of great blessing and conversations that took us back in time (Pastor Máximo is now retired and recently stopped pastoring the Campanario church, one of the oldest of our Presbytery). By God’s grace and sovereignty, He allowed this visit just as Daniel fell ill. The three children of the missionary family had been ill the previous week, and during this time, Daniel had pneumonia. God worked in His perfect timing so that the pastor could come to support the work and allow Daniel to rest and recover his health. God is perfect, and we glorify His name for His goodness. Pastor Maximo officiated the Lord’s Supper, so we were able to enjoy participating in this important sacrament.

6. World Congress of the International Council of Christian Churches (ICCC). We give infinite thanks to God for providing everything necessary for our trip to the congress. Daniel Josías and Daniel will be traveling to Nakuru, Kenya. Tickets have been purchased and visas approved, so everything is ready for the trip. We ask that you pray for the work we will be doing there. Daniel will have the blessing to speak at the ICCC Congress, and after the conference, they will take a mission trip to Isovya. The plan is to visit the schools in the area to share the gospel along with much-needed vitamins for the children there. We ask that you pray for the brothers and sisters who want to join us, that God will provide everything they need for their trip.

We continue with our established activities: Bible study service, prayer service, children’s club, and worship service on the Lord’s Day. The work with the children has been growing stronger, and we have a group of about 15 children attending the Bible club. Our home, where we hold this club, is becoming too small, and we see the need to acquire a property to have a church building and carry out all our activities. We ask that you pray that God will provide what we need so we can continue serving Him in the best way possible.

We also thank God that we were able to repair our vehicle (mentioned in our last letter). God provided an engine that was sent from the far north of our country (from Iquique), since there were no engines available in Punta Arenas.

We continue to see God’s hand in our lives and we glorify Him because He answers our prayers with power and mercy. Therefore, here are a few prayer requests to consider:

  • For the children of the Bible club: Gabriel, Agustín, Emiliano, Rayén, Elías, Cristian, Alisa, Amaro, Julián, Santiago, Matías, Emilia, Dannel, Maximiliano, Ramzzés and for their parents, so that God may work salvation in their lives.
  • For attendance, health, and spiritual growth of the brethren of the congregation.
  • For health and salvation of Mrs. Delfa Ojeda.
  • For God to provide a property for a church building.
  • For the studies of Daniel, Joaquín, and Catherine.
  • For missionary work at the ICCC Congress in Nakuru and in Isovya, Kenya.

We are servants of God for His glory, for the spread of the gospel, for the salvation of His people.

In the love of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Matamala Colpi Family
