Serving the Lord in the Andes Mission

September, 2022

My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 121: 2

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

With great joy in our hearts, we greet you in the name of our glorious Savior Jesus Christ; hoping that you are doing well and enjoying the blessings of our God. We want to always express our gratitude to each one of you for your valuable support, through prayers and financial help.

Attention to the Work of God: El Sembrador Church of Iquique

On Friday June 24th, Jonathan and Janeth traveled to the city of Iquique to attend to the work of the Lord at the El Sembrador Church. The next day, the church session had their meeting. Following a year of instructions and good grades, two sisters (Sister Ambar Matamala and Genesis Alcayaga) were examined for membership of the El Sembrador session.  Then on Sunday, Jonathan had the opportunity to serve the Lord by teaching the adult Sunday School class, and also preached in the Sunday night service. It has been a great joy for him to be able to support the work of the Lord in Iquique, since the El Sembrador church still does not have a full-time pastor.

On Saturday July 16th and Sunday July 17th, Jonathan and Janeth were in Iquique one more time to perform the membership ceremony of those two sisters. The sisters shared wonderful testimonies of love and service to God. It was encouraging to listen to them, since they are young ladies, who from a very early age have served God through the ministry of music. In addition, Janeth also had the incredible opportunity to encourage and challenge the ladies of this church to participate in the Congress of Women in the Northern Zone that was going to be held in August.

In August, Jonathan once again traveled to Iquique to minister. And once again the trip took the entire weekend (August 19-21). On Saturday the 20th, the annual congregational meeting was held. Each department of the church made a report, along with those brethren in responsible positions of church ministry. On Sunday afternoon, after Sunday school, there was a dedication ceremony for the new church building. After saving money for more than 35 years, this was a blessed occasion for these brethren. Special praises were given, along with testimonies of God’s faithfulness and provision to His people. Later, at the Sunday night service, they celebrated the Lord’s Supper.

With these things in mind, let us continue to pray for our brethren in Iquique, so that nothing will prevent them from continuing to grow and give a faithful testimony of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank God for the precious time with our brethren of the church El Sembrador.

Attention of the Work of God: Berea Church of Arica

We thank God for the beautiful workshops that the children of our church had during the time of the pandemic. In addition, activities (pictured right) for them took place every Saturday afternoon with the help of our sisters Karen Bravo, Roxana Pozo and Janeth Jara. Moreover, Sunday School is now being held in person so our children are finally able to attend church. Thanks to the Lord, there have not been any COVID-19 contagions reported.

Additionally, we praise the Lord again as our dear sister Patricia Munoz has come back to worship with us. She mentioned that she likes the course of action that our church has taken regarding Sunday School being conducted and carried out, especially the teaching methods we use for the children. Sister Patricia has five children, who are a great blessing for our church.

On August 12th and 13th, the Women’s Fellowship of the district of the Great North of Chile was held. On Friday the 12th, the Berea Church had the welcoming service, where all the sisters had the privilege to learn more about the Lord using different study themes that helped them to develop a better understanding of the Lord.  There were approximately 40 sisters attending this meeting. On Saturday the Congress continued at the Manantial Church, and the theme of study was “Overcoming Fears – Set Our Eyes on Christ.” It was also a joy to have a special guest, Sister Elizabeth Hoyos, who is the National President of MUPREF (Presbyterian Fundamentalist Women). And of course, it was a great joy for all of us to see the group of nine sisters coming from the El Sembrador Church. It was a time of learning and joy for each one of the sisters.
